Jay Rimke, son of Albert and Michelle of A and M Ranching in Oak Lake, Manitoba, was in a very serious accident on Tuesday January 24, 2012 in Olds; when the truck he was travelling in was hit by a train. He remains in hospital in Calgary where he is recovering. He is improving daily, but the gains are slow. Michelle is living in Calgary while Jay remains in the hospital. Jay sustained serious injuries as a result of this accident and his recovery will take a great deal of time. If you would like to support the Rimke Family with prayers or financial support, an account is open at the Royal Bank of Canada on a nationwide list. Those wishing to contribute may do so anywhere across Canada. You can go to any Royal Bank and make a deposit to the Jay Rimke account. It is very easy; just ask the teller that you wish to make a deposit to the “In Trust for Jay Rimke” account. The teller will look up the account and make the deposit. It is referred to as a “tragedy” account.

Genex sired progeny had good results at the 2011 Old Home Week Beef Shows in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

In the open Angus show, Julie Mutch's JEM Classy Lady 15Y sired by S A V Bismarck 5682 was the Champion Angus Heifer Calf. Glen and Ronnie Ford's Wheatley River Colleen 2X sired by Quaker Hill Objective 3J15 was second in her yearling heifer class.

In the open Simmental show, Hidden Hollow Farm's Hidden H Sweet Meat 170Y sired by TNT Top Gunn R244 was a bull calf class winner as well as the Grand Champion Male. In the mature cow class, CMS Ureika 807U, sired by Remington Red Label HR won her class and went on to be the Senior Female Champion and Grand Champion Female. She was also named the Supreme Champion Female over all breeds.

In the Igenity Angus Classic Futurity, MacKinnnon Homestead's MKHF Mistress 1Y, sired by S A V Bismarck 5682 was tied as the Reserve Champion Heifer Calf.

Our Princess cow will also have a Benz calf, she is the dam of the "Valentine" steer and currently has the Tyson heifer calf that was featured on the Lautner Farms blog in May. We plan on showing the Tyson heifer at Charlottetown in August. The final cow bred to Mercedes Benz is 2T, she is an All About You 4 year old out of the 100E cow. Duncan Livestock has 8 confirmed Eye Candy pregnancies beginning in November. Among the cows are our 9N cow that has one of our top steers by Gigolo Joe for this October's sale. 25T, the mother of the Reserve Champion Maine Anjou steer at this year's PEI Easter Beef Show & Sale also has an Eye Candy pregnancy. 25T currently has an Eye Candy heifer calf at side. She is 15Y and we will have photos of her this summer leading up to the sale. The "Rose" cow also has an Eye Candy pregnancy for this fall, Rose was the dam of our high seller in 2010 who went on to be the Champion Maine Anjou steer at the 2011 PEI Easter Beef Show & Sale. Her last four calves have averaged over $1500 each in sales. Her current calf, a yellow Alias steer will fit nicely in the Charolais class, you can see 98X on our 2011 Calves page. 41H, the dam of the 2008 Grand Champion steer at the Cumberland County Exhibition also has an Eye Candy pregnancy for this fall.
