Friday Update
We used a product called Quiet Wean on our sale calves and a few others and are pleased with the results.  Calves are much quieter and we barely hear anything from the cows.

Sale Calves Are Being Weaned

All 2012 sale calves are being weaned as of today, we're trying a new experiment to reduce stress on both the calves, the mothers, fences, and us.

Sale calves are sired by Boardwalk, Eye Candy, Highliner, Mercedes Benz, and Monopoly.

Once the weaning is over, we will be halter breaking the 9 other steers.  5 heifers and 1 steer are halter broke now.

Congratulations to the Siddall Family who exhibited the Reserve Champion Beef Animal at their 4H Achievement Day with KJDF Yvonne 11Y a purebred Angus yearling they purchased at our 2011 sale.

Sale Heifers Are Halter Broke

The worst of the halter breaking is over for the sale heifers.  The sale heifers are sired by Boardwalk, Eye Candy, and Monopoly. More pictures to come.

Halter Breaking Begins

Started halter breaking sale calves for the September 15th sale today along with today's helpers Liam and Caleb Boswall. They have picked out their favourite heifer as tag 40, Monopoly X Angus. First day with a rope on her and she is as quiet as a kitten.  We will have 10-12 steers and 3-5 heifers with dates of birth from mid November to early January.  Calves are sired by Boardwalk, Eye Candy, Highliner, Mercedes Benz, and Monopoly.
